Non-Metallic Expansion Joints

Thorburn Belts Type J & K Belts - Type JLF & JLM High Temperature Belts

Thorburn's Fabric belts are used to provide pressure containment of the ducting system. In addition, fabrics are used for inner and immediate layers in composite style joints as thermal barriers and mechanical reinforcement. The selection of fabrics is based upon compatibility with the specific thermal, chemical and mechanical requirements of the system.
Insulating layers are designed to reduce interface temperatures to a level which permits satisfactory performance and life of the fabrics and gas seal membrane. Fiberglass blankets perform well to 1000°F and ceramic blankets perform well to 1800°F, but do have mechanical and chemical limitations.
